History of Documentary is what we discussed this week. We had a lecture on documentaries that changed the genre documentary through time from Lantem Slides (1880s) to Salemen (1968). In the screening we watched The Rolling Stones documentary.
In a documentary filmmaking situation, what might a filmmaker do that would change them from a “fly on the wall” to a “hornet that stings”?
A filmmaker may use more interview style sections, asking questions that provoke specific answers and lead the documentary in a certain direction.
